i call it "forewarned." with your help, paul ryan and i will get elected. [cheers and applause] you'll see enterprises a large and small decide to open their doors and expand. we will see the kind of recovery that america needs and deserves. i have confidence in the american people. i know that created and patriotic people in here. we love this country. there is no other nation on earth like it. we are an exceptional nation. i believe that. when the founders wrote that document known as the declaration of independence, they changed the world with insights that god gave us our rights and not the government. [cheers and applause] these are rights which we have. i love america. my confidence in the future comes from my passion for this country and for the people of this country. do you realize how unusual we are as a people? i do not know how it began, but it is here. it is in our hearts. some years ago when i was serving as governor of my state, the then president of israel came to boston. i happen to have a lunch with him in someone's apartment. someone said to him, "what you th

. [cheers and applause] you know when it comes to creating jobs that paul ryan and i have a plan. it is not a repeat of the last four years because we cannot afford four more years of the last four years. it is an entirely different direction. it has five different parts. number one, we will take advantage of our energy, coal, gas, oil, nuclear. the president has cut in half the number of permits and licenses on federal lands and in federal waters. i will double them. the president has made it virtually impossible to build a coal industry in this country. we have a lot of coal and i want to use it. the want thet w keystone pipeline. i will get us that oil from canada. i will open up more trade. we can trade on a fair basis with people around the world. but when people steal our jobs and trade practices as a china has, i will hold them accountable. we cannot let our jobs get stolen unfairly. i want to make sure the people have the skills that they need to succeed. i want training programs that prepare people for the jobs of today. right now have 47 different federal training programs reporti

. i think the ladies know what i am talking about here. paul ryan appears -- appeals to seniors. a scary eddie munster guy. here is mitt romney's money. chilling i know a guy that does a fake twiter account called "mexican mitt romney." he is a big smash on the twitter. politico named it one of the top-10 funniest fake twitter accounts. it plays off on the fact that mitt romney's dad was born in mexico in a mormon colony and was actually -- mitt romney might be the first chicano president. mexican mitt romney seems like a crazy mexi-mormon ranchero character. he says a lot of crazy stuff about the election. follow him @mexicanmitt. this is the curiosity rover being asked for its papers. here is the colombian secret service prosecution scandal. -- prostitution scandal. columbia, we are not just known for drugs anymore. [laughter] i promise you, the president has a big stick. here is obama giving the presidential medal of freedom to a personal friend of mine. a lot of people do not know the united farm workers invented the "yes, we can" slogan. obama took that and ran with it. at lea

there fothe long term. the idea came not from paul ryan, but from the co-author of the bill in the senate. it came from bill clinton's chief of staff. this says let's see if we can get competition into the medicare world so people can get the choice of different plans at lower cost, better policy is a quality. i believe in competition. >> every study has shown matters here -- medicare has the word administrative cost. -- medicare has lower administrative costs than regular insurance has. this is why seniors are generally happy with it. private insurers have to make a profit. that is what they do. you have higher administrative costs plus profit on top of that. if you were going to save any money to what governor romney is proposing, what has to happen is that the money has to come from somewhere. when you move to a voucher system, you are putting seniors at the mercy of those insurance companies. over time, if traditional medicare has decayed, they are stuck. this is why aarp has said your plan would begin medicare substantially. -- would weaken medicare substantially. that is why

. use of paul ryan over the weekend talking about -- you saw paul ryan over the weekend talking about how he does not have time to explain the numbers in his budget. people want that explanation and are creeping back from the governor. guest: given the constraints of the debate format, they will not give chapter and verse from the town and its parent -- from the candidates. this is more important for mitt romney. he benefits as a challenger from standing on the same stage as the incumbent president of the united states, but there is a greater burden to convince the wavering voters, the 12 or 14 people that i've not made up their minds in this election. host: post-debate spin, howard kurtz, how important is that, and how social media plays a more important role? guest: the post-debate spin, i think it is critical, as people watched the debate, but they can make up their own mind, but that is an hour and half. what you get for the next several days or a week are the clips that are replayed, the chair by the commentators. you mentioned the al gore eye- rolling that was not talked about t

some support. ron wyden came to me before he went to vice-presidential nominee paul ryan in terms of his approach. unfortunately, i was totally involved on some issues dealing with anti-terrorism so i could not to deal with the specific one. but i probably have as many piece of red -- of legislation that is bipartisan and any member of congress. the idea of no budget/no pay, how about the idea of new budget/no job. i put my budget on print and have not seen any budget that you put on line. dianne feinstein has not voted for a budget in the last 2000 days. >> did you vote for the budgets during the democrat rain in the house? >> i voted for the alternatives. >> this one is for dan lundgren. >> let's go back to health care. the affordable care act, which to support the repeal? california and other states are already moving forward with a lot of the provisions, including the health benefit exchange, the online insurance marketplace. how should the government handle states like california who are moving in this direction, getting people lined up for medicaid expansion with the expectatio
